Master Bathroom

OK so we finally have a plan for building a house.  Although hubby is still skeptical that we will be able to pull it off.  But I have enough optimism for two so I am SURE we can do it!!!  Anyhoo, I have some dream pictures for the master bathroom.

The image above represents the tile for the shower and floor.  I am leaning towards a lighter brown for the floor so it looks more like sand but I LOVE the blue tile.  It looks so serene and beachy!

This is an image of someone's master bath in the houseplan I am totally in love with right now (see previous post).  I love the windows.  I am thinking a bigger tub, but I'll post more about that later.

I love the fireplace in this image.  I don't think I will have a fireplace in my master bath, but I think I could get one in the kids bath in the house plan.  I love green and the green brick/tile in the fireplace looks so awesome.  I'm also loving the shower curtain, it is sooo Romantic! I can't remember where I found these pictures, but a safe bet is BHG.com.  I love that site!

This image is from one of my favorite blogs http://isabellaandmaxrooms.blogspot.com.  She has the best house and she decorates it so beautifully.  I am totally going to steal this chandelier idea.  It is so pretty sitting right over the tub.  I really like the tub and faucet as well.  So pretty.

Well that's all I have right now about the master bath.  I am so determined to start building my dream home in a year and so hopefully I will be able to blog about the experience.  I will keep you "post"ed.  Ah, man I kill me :)

Let's Build a House

I found a new house plan that I love even more than the last one.  I know it's a pipe dream and the likelihood of me ever getting to build a house is pretty much slim to none, but what's the point of life if you can't dream big?  Besides, one of these days I just might win one of those contests I enter every day...

The house above is from Coastal Living.  I know I will probably never live on the coast, but I love the breezy open floor plan. Besides, it will still look just as gorgeous in our mountainous surroundings.  I would most likely change the siding to green or blue.  I'm a fan of more color than white.  Although a nice gray would make it easier to have a door that pops.

The layout above shows the main living area, the Master and the Guest Cottage.  I love that the master is it's own little building attached by a vestibule.  The luxury of that kind of privacy is intoxicating to think about.

The openness of the main living space is so cool.  It would be great to have enough space for everyone when we have family dinner parties or birthday parties.  Plus those in the kitchen can still partake in conversation with it being so open.

I don't know if I would keep the porch screened or just have it be an open area for outdoor living.  The outdoor fireplace is so romantic.  I can just picture us out there having marshmallow roasts and enjoying listening to the rain on the roof.

We plan to have hubby's mother live with us for as long as she wants and so the little guest cottage behind the house is the perfect solution to having her with us, but with a little space to call her own.  I know she enjoys living with us, but I think she would love to have more privacy.  The plan below shows the bedroom loft above the guest cottage that would be perfect.  We could add a small kitchenette in that little living space making it just about perfect.

The plan above shows the kiddos rooms and the loft portion of the guest house (mother-in-law).

The upstairs is perfect for two kids that are best friends.  I love that my kids like to play with each other.  E will get the room with the bigger closet, being the girl and all.  I'm thinking the little storage areas will make great secret hideouts for the kids to have.  Plus if they are both upstairs, the complaint that one has to go up or down stairs to get ready for bed will be obsolete!

The image above is the front porch for the mother-in-law house.  I love the porch and the windows.  So cute.

The image above is the porch to the master bedroom.  Romantic evenings with a porch of our own.  What a treat.  Someday perhaps before we are in our 80's...

I go through phases of determination for my dream.  Usually when I look over our finances the determination wanes significantly.  But I will continue to hold on to my dream because it is mine.

My Kitchen.... Someday

I love looking at kitchen designs.  It seems as though white is the trend right now, but I'm not loving it.  I prefer color.

I love the celery green with the dark brown cabinets.  This is my favorite kitchen I have found so far.  I snagged this picture off BHG.com

I love the pattern and softness of this chair from Pier One.  It will go perfectly with the blue chair below.  I love the idea of mixed materials and patterns.  It brings so much warmth to the area.

I am in love with this blue chair from Pier One.  It is such a great color.  I am thinking it would look great as a kitchen table chair.  No dining room for me.  Too boring.  I would love an open floor plan where the kitchen, dining, living is one huge room.  More room for guests and kids to get together!

I'll have to convince my husband that one large sink is what we need.  He's the dish doer and he likes the double sink.  But this Farmhouse sink found on BHG.com is so cute I just gotta have it!

I love the pots hanging over the window in this picture from BHG.com  I would need to get new pots, but that would be nice.

I guess my daughter doesn't want a  loft bed.  She was just humoring me.  What a sweetie.  She does really want a day bed, or a bed that looks like a couch.  I have found a couple cute ideas online.

This one I found on the Country Living website I could probably find two matching headboards at D.I. if I looked often enough.  I'm not sure if I like the pads on the inside.  I'm thinking some of those round pillows will work for cushioning.

This one is from the Apartment Therapy site.  It looks so easy to make and has some rustic charm.  I'm not so sure it will work for what she wants in her room though.

I want to BUILD!

I want to learn how to build a loft bed.  I think it would be fun for my daughter's room to have a loft bed with a sofa underneath because she wants a room that looks like an apartment. I really like this one I found on ohdeedoh:
I should be able to create that, right?  Just need some wood, nails, tools and paint.  Although I think I should add a safety bar so she doesn't fall off when she is rolling around in her sleep. :)

And then if I can build the loft bed I can build anything!  Well almost anything...
I am thinking gray, pink and purple for her color scheme.  With some yellow thrown in as fun little accents.  Oh when someday come's my princess will have an awesome room.  Hopefully it's before she moves off to college!

And on a side note.  I want to say Happy Birthday to my awesome hubby!  He is now one whole digit older than me (for at least a couple more months!)

Yellow Tile

I found this picture of yellow subway tile the other day and I just love how bright and playful it makes this kitchen look.  I found it on the BHG.com site.  Man I love that site.  What an inspiration.  I also love the apron front sink.  It is definitely on my wish list.

Sadness

It is expensive to build a new home.  I'm having a hard time deciding if I should take on the financial responsibility or just look for a house.  The problem with the second option is that a house that doesn't look like it was grown in a house garden is hard to find in my price range in the area I want to live in.  Also, I have wanted to build a house since I was 15.  I have spent hours and hours pouring over house plans and design sites and it's hard to let go of my dream.  If only I had some way of making money to make my dream a reality.

I'm putting it out there on the Web... Anyone want to make a young girl's dreams come true?

I am still determined and I hope I find a way to make this dream a reality.  Thanks for reading.

Colorful Kitchen

I love this kitchen!  It has color.  I currently have white cabinets and they are old and dingy and I do NOT want white cabinets in my future kitchen.  But all the current design images tend to be white.  I know it's clean and pretty, but give me color!  Someday I will have this kitchen.  Although I think I'll have chocolate brown cabinets along the wall and pale pink paint on the walls.  I love the green island and the yellow hutch.  It is inspirational!

Mudroom

In the house plan I want to build the mudroom and the laundry room are the same.  I will have a bit of a organizing issue with this but I think I can make it work.

I want my mudroom to have a lot of storage in it.  Right now I get bags and shoes and jackets thrown on the floor wherever they feel like it.  It would be nice to have a place to make them put it.

I love the bright yellow vase in this picture above.  I also love the wall paper.  Just a thought.  The bag is lovely.  The colors would be perfect for a mud room.  The browns, greens yellow and blue it's great.

Great Room

I love the round table in the middle of the seating area.  It also pulls in most of the colors I love.  I don't know if I love the busyness of the rug with the furniture.  I think I would go with something more solid.  But I love the shade of blue and how well it goes with the pink, green and brown.

Here's another one of those round tables that I love. I love the pop of the yellow.  I love to see colorful rooms.  I'm a little iffy on the rug again,  I think it is too busy for the size of the room.  I do like the different patterns in the pillows. I wish I knew where the white side table came from.  It is so cool.

I love the curtains separating the two areas in this room.  It keeps them defined in a great way.  I really love the cushy ottoman.  Someday I will learn to make me one of those.

I love the built in bookcases in this room.  My book cases are definitely overstuffed and I would love to have a whole wall of shelves to fill like these.

I am sure I will find more pictures that I love for my great room. I look forward to the time when I can post my actual great room decorating.

Building A House

I am saving my pennies to build a house someday.  I hope it will be within the next 5 years but we will see.  The house plan I am loving right now is by Designs for Living.  I love the master suite taking up the entire upstairs.  I plan to make it into a beach retreat.  Feel free to send me links to any ideas you may have.  I plan to put up all the plans I have and I hope to get some feedback.

I will spend the next few days posting the different pictures I have found for the different rooms and how I want them to look.

I love the porches on this plan.  I remember sitting on my Grandma's porch when I was little and listening to the rain.  I would love to share that with my kids.
